Since this is a unmanaged switch, ZyXEL does not distrubute or make avalible firmware for it. Make sure to have your own backups

ZyXEL XGS1010-12 is a unmanaged 12-port switch. Identical to the XGS1210-12, with the exception that it comes with unmanaged firmware, has no reset button, and features a slightly different U-Boot. Ports: 8 10/100/1000BaseT Ethernet ports 2 10/100/1000/2500BaseT Ethernet ports 2 SFP+ 1/10GBit cages

There are three phillips head screws on the back of the device, once they are removed, the top cover can simply be slid off. This reveals the heatsink, which can also be removed by unscrewing three phillips head screws and gently applying a bit of pulling force to release the thermal pads.

Just a gentle reminder that you don’t need a full teardown to access the serial interface, but you will need to remove the top cover and the heatsink to access the SPI flash. There is not much interesting things in the backside of the motherboard. But the picture will be uploaded here

port.serial general information about the serial port, serial port cable, etc.

Serial very simple on this switch. On the right side, between the ventilation slits. The serial header can be connected to without the need for a teardown with a standard 2.54mm header. Pins are, from top to bottom:

  • Vcc (3.3V)
  • TX
  • RX
  • GND

Layout is exactly the same as for the ZyXEL XGS1250-12 or the XGS1210-12
